Recovering your creative and spiritual self
after the breaking point
When faith collapses, when meaning dissolves, when the self you knew no longer fits —creativity is not an escape. It is a lifeline. This course uses the foundationalprinciples of creative recovery to guide you through the particular dark nightof spiritual crisis, week by week, practice by practice.
This course is inspired by the principles of The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron and draws on the foundational practices she developed over 25+ years of teaching. No text from her work has been reproduced. Her books are warmly recommended as companion reading.
The soul in crisis does not need more information. It needs a practice — something to do with its handswhile the heart catches up.
The Returning Path
For You, If
Core Practices
The entire course rests on two deceptively simple practices, used consistently.
Tool One
Three pages of longhand, stream-of-consciousness writing done first thing each morning. Not art, not journaling in any tidy sense — raw, unfiltered mental drainage that clears space for deeper knowing.
In spiritual crisis, the mind loops. Morning Pages interrupt the loop. They create a private channel where nothing is wrong, nothing is too small, nothing is too dark to say. Over weeks, they become a map of your inner landscape — and eventually, a guide.
Tool Two
A weekly solo excursion to replenish and play — a museum, a long walk, a record shop, a pottery class, a cathedral. Something that feeds the part of you that doesn't produce anything useful.
Crisis depletes the soul's reservoir. The Soul Date is not a luxury; it is maintenance. Without regular deposits, we have nothing left to give — to our healing, to others, to life. This is how we refill the well.
How It Works
Each morning, before anything else, you write three pages by hand. This is the foundation of everything. It doesn't matter if they're ugly or repetitive. That's precisely the point.
Each of the 12 weeks offers a theme, a core teaching, 4–5 written exercises with reflection prompts, and space to journal your responses. Take your time. There's no wrong pace.
Once each week, you take yourself somewhere — alone — for the sole purpose of experiencing something that isn't about productivity, obligation, or healing. Just being alive and curious.
At the end of each week, four reflection questions help you track your inner journey. These become a record of your recovery — proof, over time, that something is genuinely shifting.
